  • 1.Programme description

    Chemical Researcher: With constant advancements in science and technology, more and more chemical researchers are demanded. They’re responsible for undertaking fundamental and applied chemical research, and developing new materials, compounds and technologies. To compete for the job, the candidates should be equipped with solid chemical basics and experimental techniques and be able to conduct independent design and experimental work.

    Analytical Chemist: Analytical chemists are responsible for analyzing samples, quantitatively and qualitatively, with various analytical techniques (such as gas chromatography and liquid chromatography), and making sure that experimental results are accurate and reliable. To do the job, the candidates need to be equipped with adequate experimental and data analyzing techniques.

    Pharmaceutical Chemist: With development of the pharmaceutical industry, more pharmaceutical chemists are demanded. Such chemists are responsible for designing, synthesizing, and optimizing new drugs, and figuring out chemical properties of new drugs and their reaction with organisms. To do the job, the candidates should be equipped with knowledge about chemical synthesis and drug development.

    Master basics, fundamental theories and skills of chemistry in a systematic and solid way, and know about the development history, latest progresses, and prospects of the discipline;

    Be equipped with basic skills required for carrying out chemical experiments;

    Be equipped with basics of mathematics and physics as required;

    Have fundamental knowledge about chemical research, chemicals design, development, inspection and production;

    Be equipped with basics of human science, social science, and military theories.

  • 1.Programme description

    The discipline of Chemistry is one of the key disciplines supported by the university's 211 Project initiative. It has established distinctive and nationally influential research directions, including photopolymerization and surface engineering, controlled ionic polymerization and novel polymer material synthesis, polymer crystalline structure and morphology, organic-inorganic hybrid materials, high-performance thermosetting resins and their crosslinking chemistry. It is equipped with a full set of instruments for analysis of polymer composition, structure and morphology, as well as performance evaluation. The research in living controlled polymerization and polymer alloy has achieved nationally advanced status. The faculty consists of 51 professors and 45 associate professors, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Chemistry ranks among the Top 1‰ worldwide in ESI subject rankings.

  • 1.Programme description

    This Program is developed with the support of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering, the Institute of Applied Chemistry, and the Departments of Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Chemical Biology. While paying attention to basic and theoretical researches, the School extends its research work downstream and forms a featured development mode which combines theory and practice in respect of condensing scientific problems-basic and applied basic researches-engineering and industrialization researches, on basis of international academic frontier and the actual demands of the country. After many years of development, it has gradually formed distinctive research directions, such as assembly chemistry and efficient utilization of resources, catalytic chemistry and utilization of rare metal resources, photoelectrochemical and efficient utilization of energy and metal resources, nano-biochemical analysis and efficient utilization of resources, green synthetic chemistry, etc. At present, the School has 62 teachers with senior titles and 59 with vice senior titles; and 65 supervisors for doctor's degree candidates and 148 supervisors for master's degree candidates. It includes one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  • This Program cultivates well-rounded professional technicians. A master's degree holder should master a wide range of basic theory and skills of chemistry, systematically master the specialized knowledge, theory and research methods of chemistry; be familiar with the current research status and development trend of the research direction; strengthen and permeate with materials, environment, light industry, petrochemical, life science, chemical engineering and other disciplines and have the basic theory and a wide range of knowledge of multi-disciplines. Meanwhile, he/she should have the preliminary computer ability and be able to use the computer and the network technology skillfully to carry on literature collection and exchange; have rigorous and pragmatic scientific attitude, good experimental skills and the ability to summarize and analyze scientific problems, be competent for teaching, scientific research and technical management in colleges and universities, scientific research institutes, enterprises and other units.

  • 1.Programme description

    The Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering focuses on soft matter systems as its research subject. By applying multidisciplinary integration spanning chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, biology, and environment, it addresses critical scientific and technological challenges in energy, environment, and life science fields. The Program adopts an integrated science-engineering approach for talent cultivation, offering five primary academic tracks: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Bioengineering.

    The discipline of Chemistry achieved significant milestones: it was granted the authority to award Master's degree in 1996 and Ph.D degree in 2000, recognized as a key discipline of Beijing Municipality by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in 2001, gained the authority to award Ph.D degree in its primary discipline and established a postdoctoral research station in 2006,  and was designated as a key primary discipline of chemistry in Beijing Municipality in 2012. The discipline of Chemistry entered ESI global Top 1% in March 2018 for the first time, and ESI global Top 100 in May 2019 for the first time.

  • 1.Programme description

    The primary discipline of Chemistry is developed under the College of Chemistry, comprising five major sub-disciplines: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Chemical Biology. The Chemistry discipline has been ranked in the Top 1‰ of ESI global rankings since March 2018, and was listed among the Top 100 of ESI global rankings since May 2019.

    It has established a strong teaching and research team which includes one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The discipline has developed a distinctive development model that closely integrates theory with practice, following the path of scientific issues - basic research and applied basic research - engineering and industrialization research. It has established distinctive research directions such as assembly chemistry & efficient utilization of resources, and catalytic chemistry & utilization of rare metal resources. Over the past five years, more than 150 national-level scientific research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, have been undertaken. A total of RMB 170 million in vertical R&D funding and RMB 140 million in horizontal project funding have been received.

    The graduate education program emphasizes both fundamental chemical theories and cross-penetration with related disciplines such as Materials Science, Environmental Science, and Life Science. It combines theory with practice and cultivates chemical talents at various levels through all stages of scientific research, with a focus on developing high-level talents with multidisciplinary knowledge integration capabilities and innovative thinking and planning skills.

  • 1.Programme description

    The Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering focuses on soft matter systems as its research subject. By applying multidisciplinary integration spanning chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, biology, and environment, it addresses critical scientific and technological challenges in energy, environment, and life science fields. The Center adopts an integrated science-engineering approach for talent cultivation. It maintains a research team of 19 full-time and 13 part-time researchers, including seven members of the US National Academy of Engineering and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. It occupies dedicated research and office space, and the completed Advanced Innovation Complex will provide an additional 20,000 square meters of internationally standardized research and office space. The Center is equipped with five advanced research platforms to meet R&D needs: Intelligent Synthetic Biology Platform, Aerosol and Haze Research Platform, Energy Materials and Devices Platform, High-Performance Computing Platform, and Nano-biomedical Materials Platform.

    The Chemistry discipline was granted the authority to award Ph.D degree in 2000, and award Ph.D degree in the primary discipline in 2006. In March 2018, the discipline of Chemistry entered ESI global Top 1‰ for the first time, and Top 100 in May 2019 for the first time. In May 2022, the Chemistry discipline ranked among the Top 1‰ globally in ESI subject rankings, achieving the 61st position worldwide.
