    This Program aims to cultivate high-quality chemical engineering talents who can meet the needs of the chemical industry transitioning toward green processes, intelligent manufacturing and high-end products, and possess a global vision, innovative spirit, and the expertise to engage in process design, product R&D, industrial support, scientific research, and integrated management in such fields as chemistry, energy, environmental protection, medicine, and materials science.

        Graduates will meet the following requirements:

        1.1Integrate the knowledge, methodologies and tools to solve complex engineering problems in actual chemical production, and complete the design, optimization, diagnosis and project management of complex chemical processes;

        1.2Monitor international trends in chemical engineering and related fields, and conduct new product R&D, process development, and technological innovation;

  • 1.Programme description

    Relying on the discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology, this Program continuously strengthens teaching and research capabilities in chemical engineering, chemical process, and industrial catalysis. It has developed several cutting-edge research directions aimed at international academic frontier, including hypergravity and process intensification, hydrogen energy and industrial catalysis, efficient separation and green chemical engineering, and energy storage and efficient resource utilization. Among the full-time teachers, there are 71 doctoral supervisors, 122 master's supervisors and over 100 teachers with senior titles. The teachers with Ph.D degree account for about 90% of the total teachers. More than 900 academic papers are published annually, among which over 700 are indexed in SCI (including more than 400 papers published in TOP journals). In addition, nearly 90 domestic and international invention patents are authorized annually.

    This Program is built upon the sub-discipline of Applied Chemistry, which is subordinate to the primary discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and is developed under the College of Chemistry. The discipline always adheres to a research philosophy of identifying scientific research topics from chemical engineering practices, extracting scientific questions and conducting in-depth investigations. With an emphasis on process development and industrialization, it has achieved transformation of scientific research achievements. The research projects have established domestic leadership and important international academic standing in the following areas: supramolecular intercalation assembly & product engineering, catalytic materials & technologies, functional organic molecular design & synthesis, environmental safety analysis & sensing technologies, applied electrochemistry & photochemistry, nanomaterial preparation & application, etc. The discipline possesses strong capabilities in both teaching and research, a vibrant academic environment and sufficient scientific research funds.

    The Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering focuses on soft matter systems as its research subject. By applying multidisciplinary integration spanning chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, biology, and environment, it addresses critical scientific and technological challenges in energy, environment, and life science fields. The Program adopts an integrated science-engineering approach for talent cultivation, offering five primary academic tracks: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Bioengineering.

        The discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology achieved significant milestones: it was granted the authority to award the Master of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering in 1981 and the Ph.D degree in Chemical Engineering in 1984, established a postdoctoral research station in Chemical Engineering and Technology in 1988, and gained the authority to award Ph.D degree in the primary discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology in 2000. The Chemical Engineering discipline was designated as a national key discipline in 2001, and the Chemical Engineering and Technology discipline was recognized as one of the first batch of national key primary disciplines in 2007. In 2022, the discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology was selected for China's Double First-Class University Project as a national key construction discipline.
