Laws and Regulations
Welcome to Beijing University of Chemical Technology! As an international student, you must strictly abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as BUCT's policies and procedures, while respecting Chinese customs and traditions. Here are some important legal regulations you should be aware of:
Overview of Chinese laws

China’s legal system encompasses the Constitution, national laws, administrative regulations and local regulations. International students must comply with the following relevant laws:


  • Entry and exit administration: Be sure to comply with visa regulations and apply for your residence permit on time.


  • Traffic regulations: Strictly obey all traffic rules. Driving motor vehicles without a license is strictly prohibited.


  • Intellectual property laws: Uphold the principle of academic integrity. Plagiarism and unauthorized use of others’ work are strictly prohibited.

Visa and residence permit


  • International students must enter China with a valid X1 or X2 visa and apply for a residence permit within 30 days of arrival.


  • Overstaying or using your visa illegally may result in fines, detention, or even deportation.

BUCT’s policies and procedures
  • Students must strictly abide by the policies and procedures of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, including classroom discipline, dormitory management, and examination integrity.


  • Academic misconduct, such as plagiarism and cheating, is strictly prohibited and will result in severe penalties.

Intellectual property protection
  • All research outcomes, academic papers and inventions are protected under Chinese intellectual property laws.
